In my early twenties, I wrote about 30 or so short stories, mostly out of boredom. Grad school and my later career pretty much killed that boredom. I had a real burst of creativity the winter before I moved to Oregon. I was living with my parents, working in Assembly at a plastic factory, and spending every red cent I earned on beer and coffee. I wrote nearly a story a week between New Year and late April 1995.
